Gabon has officially launched the construction of the Andem International Airport, a strategic project announced since 2010. The Burkinabe company Ebomaf has been selected to carry out this infrastructure within four years. Gabonese authorities present this project as the future airport hub of the subregion, aiming to strengthen both national and international connectivity for the country.
The CEO of Ebomaf, Mahamadou Bonkoungou, stated that "Ebomaf has been selected to build the new Andem International Airport, an ambitious project aimed at providing the country with modern airport infrastructure. This initiative seeks to strengthen Gabon’s national and international connectivity, in line with its development objectives. The airport’s completion is expected before 2030."
The project, estimated to cost around 220 billion FCFA, will be financed through a public-private partnership (PPP) model. Covering 30,000 hectares, the airport will feature modern infrastructure, including a presidential pavilion and a large parking area. According to Gabonese authorities, its design will comply with international standards, ensuring its competitiveness and appeal in the regional airport landscape.
